Here’s what you should keep in mind when hiring someone to sell your home.

Recently, I spoke with a home seller who was also interviewing three other Realtors. This was very common when I first started in the business but not so much today. I think every home seller should do this, but it can be hard to know where to start. Here’s my advice for how you can find the right real estate brokerage to hire:

1. Take it seriously. There’s a lot at stake when selling a home.

2. Know the difference between a broker and an agent. A broker has more education and employs agents as part of their team. The contract you’re signing is a broker-principal relationship, so you’re always involved with the broker, not the agent. The agent is just the middleman.

3. Find out their marketing plans. The marketing of your home is very important. You want your property exposed to the entire home-buying market so you can drive as many buyers to your door as possible.

4. Be wary of hiring a friend or relative. Sometimes the sale of a home involves difficult conversations. You have to be sure you can separate your personal relationship from the business relationship without harming the friendship.

If you have any other real estate-related questions, don’t hesitate to reach out via phone or email. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
